  • Overview

    The Systems Engineer IV is responsible for conferring with team members (engineers, programmers, instructional designers, and graphic artists) to determine performance requirements and interfaces for Sailor 2025 training. Responsibilities also include software testing requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints and user requirements; coordinating software system installation; and ensuring software functionality meets configuration specifications for Navy systems.


    • Works in team environment to plan, design, develop, test, and document up to Level IV Interactive Multi-media Instruction (IMI) (e.g., game-based, virtual, and/or mobile instructional applications)
    • Analyze user training requirements and help develop software solutions;
    • Design test plans and develop test cases/scenarios/use cases to ensure Sailor 2025 training operates efficiently in Navy schoolhouse and distributed environments;
    • Develop software verification plans and quality assurance procedures in compliance with Sailor 2025 contract requirements;
    • Install, configure, test, and maintain application software and system management tools as required;
    • Develop, create, and/or modify general computer applications software or specialized utility programs;
    • Modify existing software as applicable to correct errors or to improve performance;
    • Coordinate database development as part of a team;
    • Obtain and evaluate information on factors such as reporting formats required, costs, and security needs;
    • Analyze system capabilities and requirements to determine system performance standards;
    • Comply with project plans, industry standards, and/or Navy standards as required;
    • Creates interface design documents;
    • Coordinates the implementation of interface design with the engineering staff;
    • Resolves design issues relating to the integration of products into the system; 
    • Other duties as assigned.



    • Ability to obtain a DoD security clearance;
    • Experience working with Navy/DoD preferred but not required;
    • Strong organization skills, ability to handle multiple tasks;
    • Ability to work within a team or independently and perform multiple tasks with dynamic priorities;
    • Well-developed interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with individuals and groups with diverse backgrounds;
    • Experience with program languages such as XML, HTML, HTML5, CSS and JavaScript
    • Experience with development tools such as Apache, PHP, Perl, SQL, Open GL, Unity CourseMill
    • Knowledge of SCORM and xAPI specifications;
    • Ability to research, evaluate, analyze, resolve, and present solutions to problems.


    • BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related subject; MS degree preferred
    • Strong Web and computer skills
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Proficiency in MS Word, Project, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook


    May be tasked to lead a team of software engineers/programmers.

    Physical Demands

    Frequent sitting, using hands/fingers, handling, reaching with hands and arms, talking, hearing and seeing up close, at a distance, along the periphery, with depth perception and the ability to adjust focus; occasional walking or standing, occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.     Work Environment

    Work is performed in an office setting. Employee will be exposed to a wide variety of people in differing functions, personalities and abilities.

    Work Schedule

    40 hours per week. May be required to work additional hours as needed to complete assignment or project.
