  • Overview

    The Simulation Nurse Educator will work with ORH, MSTT, and NSN personnel in the development and delivery of simulation based training curriculum. The Nurse Educator will be responsible for providing clinical, educational and technical expertise in the design, development, implementation and evaluation of simulation-based activities in various VA Medical Centers (VAMCs) for medical, nursing, and multidisciplinary programs.  The individual will coordinate and/or conduct simulation, serve as the subject matter expert for simulation curriculum design concepts that integrate simulation into curriculum for VAMC employees.

    Responsibilities

    • The individual will work with the Curriculum Developer, Simulation Specialist, Simulation Technicians, and NSN staff in the development and delivery of training.
    • Travel will be required for the completion of assigned duties.

    Qualifications

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • Master’s degree in nursing or nursing degree in nursing with a Master’s in education and an active unrestricted Register Nurse (RN) license.
    • Must possess experience in adult medical-surgical or Intensive Care experience with in past 2 years.
    • Required to possess approximately 1-2 years of healthcare simulation experience and recent experience (last 2 years) in clinical simulation instruction.
    • Must have at least one year of experience in simulation based training and specialized experience in the development and coordination of simulation training activities; to include running, troubleshooting and maintaining simulation equipment.
    • Prior mental health experience desirable but not required.

     

    SPECIAL SKILLS

    • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills.
    • Operational computer skills with general working knowledge of word processing, and Microsoft applications (including Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook).
    • Able to define problems and obtain solutions.

    Physical Demands

    Frequent sitting, standing, walking, lying down or to be or remain in a position or state of inactivity.     Work Environment

    Work is performed primarily in an office setting.  Employee will be exposed to a wide variety of people in differing functions, personalities and abilities.

    Work Schedule

     

    40 hours per week.  May be required to work additional hours as needed to complete assignment or project.
