  • Overview

    Financial Accounting position that uses U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) to ensure accurate and timely internal and external financial reporting.

    Responsibilities

    • Prepares asset, liability, and capital account entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
    • Documents financial transactions by entering account information.
    • Recommends financial actions by analyzing accounting options.
    • Summarizes current financial status by collecting information; preparing balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports.
    • Reconciles financial data by collecting and analyzing account information.
    • Assists in the preparation of the monthly and annual closing processes.
    • Assists in federal, state and local tax compliance.
    • Maintains financial security by following internal controls.
    • Answers accounting procedure questions by researching and interpreting accounting policy and regulations.
    • Complies with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation and advising management on needed actions.
    • Prepares special financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends.
    • Maintains customer confidence and protects operations by keeping financial information confidential.
    • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
    • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting is required.
    • Minimum of three (3) years’ relevant work experience in Financial Accounting (U.S. GAAP) is strongly preferred.

    Special Skills:

    • Advanced level knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook), Adobe and other media type software.
    • Experience with Deltek CostPoint or other integrated accounting software preferred.
    • Must be able to work independently with little or no supervision, be exceedingly well organized, flexible.
    • Must be deadline-oriented and ability to work in a fast paced environment.
    • Ability to work as a functioning member of a team.
    • Detail oriented and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
    • Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; monitors own work to ensure quality.
    • Proven ability to exercise mature judgment – specifically in recognizing and respecting the confidential nature of corporate and personnel matters.

    Supervisory

    None.

    Physical Demands

    Frequent sitting, using hands/fingers, handling, reaching with hands and arms, talking, hearing and seeing up close, at a distance, along the periphery, with depth perception and the ability to adjust focus; occasional walking or standing, occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs.     Work Environment

    The majority of work is performed in a professional office setting and in some off-site locations during project transitioning with a wide variety of people in different functions, personalities and abilities.

    Work Schedule

    40 hours per week. May be required to work additional hours as needed to complete assignment or project.
