  • Overview

    Perform a wide range of duties to support management and staff of the Contracting Office and its Branches.  The position functions as a part of the ERDC Public Affairs Office (PAO), Corporate Communications Office (CCO), Business Development Office (BDO), and the Command Staff Division located at the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC). The position functions as a part of the ERDC Public Affairs Office (PAO).

    Responsibilities

    • Conduct interviews and write command information articles for publication in internal, Army, DOD publications and Intranet sites.
    • Develop messages for review and dissemination to internal and external audience.
    • Assist in development of briefing for senior leadership, researchers and support personnel.
    • Develop scripts and storyboards for video production.
    • Monitor internet and Intranet sites to ensure content is current and in compliance with OPSEC and Army guidelines and requirements.
    • Prepare messaging and publicity; maintain established Digital Signage Network; develop and monitor tracking system for DSN messaging.
    • Assist in development of branding materials, briefings, white papers and leave behinds delivered for senior leadership researchers and support personnel.
    • Design with be delivered for consideration as developed.
    • Develop scripts and storyboard for video for internal and external audiences; monitor and track video distribution and feedback; assist in editing video production work accomplished by others.
    • Maintain and post products to the CCO Toolkit.
    • Serve as a member of the CCO Messaging and Media Technology Groups, take notes and prepare out briefs as required.
    • Participate in the EBDO techwatch/horizon scanning process and associated toolkit development, providing support in researching specific topics utilizing these and other available tools.
    • Assist in enterprise business development office external positive image promotion, including the development of white papers, leave behind materials to promote ERDC capabilities, and participation in Vicksburg-based networking and teleconferences as required.
    • Routinely update and manage the content of the Discover ERDC enterprise business development webpage, exercising reasonable liberty in creative interpretation of content provided by EBDO staff.
    • Support strategic engagement planning through participating in weekly EBDO group meetings, creative input into materials and methods development for strategic engagement tools and processes, and participation in networking and materials development working groups as required.

    Qualifications

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • Requires Associate's degree in a related discipline. In lieu of degree, relevant work experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.
    • Minimum of two (2) years in a public relations or social media role.
    • Advance computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft software (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), publishing, and web software.
    • Demonstrated ability to perform diverse duties under operating and deadline constraints.
    • Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; monitors own work to ensure quality.

    Physical Demands

    Frequent sitting, using hands/fingers, handling, reaching with hands and arms, talking, hearing and seeing up close, at a distance, along the periphery, with depth perception and the ability to adjust focus; occasional walking or standing, occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs.     Work Environment

    The majority of work is performed in a professional office setting and in some off-site locations during project transitioning with a wide variety of people in different functions, personalities and abilities.

    Work Schedule

    40 hours per week.  May be required to work additional hours as needed to complete assignment or project.
