  • Overview

    Evaluate electrical safety program descriptions, plans, procedures and processes to ensure compliance with regulations and requirements

    Responsibilities

    • Ensure that electrical safety training is adequate to develop qualified personnel
    • Conduct field walk downs to ensure facilities meet electrical safety requirements and procedures
    • Review documents, assessments, procedures, etc. to ensure they are adequate to support electrical safety program development and implementation at site facilities and readiness programs 
    • Review Comment Record forms for electrical safety document reviews
    • Drill reports for observed field drills and exercises
    • Operational awareness database entries for contractor oversight, procedure reviews, design reviews, document reviews, field walk downs, etc. as assigned
    • Provide field oversight of TF and WTP activities ensuring the contractor identifies and applies requirements that, when implemented, provide adequate safety, demonstrate compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and demonstrate conformance with overall DOE safety performance standards and principles
    • Conduct assessments and surveillance of the contractor electrical safety programs, according the DOE-ORP procedures.

    Qualifications

    • Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC 2005 & 2017), Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace (NFPA 70E 2004,2009, 2015, and 2018), electrical systems review (one-line diagrams) and power distribution systems.
    • Familiarity Level Knowledge of the Hanford Tank Farms, 222-S, and/or Waste Treatment & Immobilization Plan is preferred.
    • Knowledge of Hanford Site mission, activities and priorities.
    • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
    • maintain proficiencies in the following through periodic training:
      • HGET
      • WTP Site access

    Physical Demands

    • Must be able to lift & carry up to and excess of 30 lbs.
    • Moderate to extensive sitting; moderate standing, bending, twisting, lifting & reaching
    • Moderate to extended periods of office work with heavy periods of computer usage Moderate to extensive periods of analytical tasks requiring extensive reasoning abilities.

    Work Environment

    The majority of work is performed in a professional office setting with a wide variety of people in different functions, personalities and abilities.

    Work Schedule

    40 hours per week.  May be required to work additional hours as needed to complete assignment or project.
