  • Overview

     This position will provide general accounting and administrative support including, but not limited to, dividend and scholarship processing, receipt of shareholder records, scholarships, data entry and filing.  Record shareholder records and scholarship data to keep shareholder and scholarship records complete. Perform any combination of routine calculating, posting, and verifying duties to obtain primary financial data for use in maintaining records. May also check the accuracy of figures, calculations, and postings pertaining to dividend and scholarship transactions recorded by other workers.  Answers the phone, interacts and assists the public. Intern position reports to Ouzinkie Native Corporation Shareholder Development Manager and may take guidance from personnel in other departments.

    • Clerical and administrative office support (word processing, copying documents, faxing, filing, etc.)
    • Assist Shareholder Records Manager process dividends
    • Assist shareholders with records and scholarship documents
    • Answer incoming calls
    • Process scholarships
    • Accounting reconciliations
    • Participate in special assignments and/or training, as requested
    • Other duties and projects as assigned


    Ouzinkie Native Corporation provides on the job training and experience to interns to help them obtain the skills and abilities necessary to meet the essential duties and responsibilities of their position.  Interns are expected to complete all training provided by the company.


    • Must be an Ouzinkie Shareholder, descendant or spouse of a Shareholder
    • 10-Key experience or the ability to learn
    • Experience using general office equipment including industry standard computer software
    • HS Diploma or GED

    Preferred Experience

    • Competent computer skills required, including proficiency using Microsoft programs (emphasis in Outlook, Excel and Word) and email systems including web-based
    • Familiar with Microsoft Access software, with ability to maintain detailed databases
    • One (1) year of practical experience in accounting
    • Experience in using web-based data systems
    • Bookkeeping experience
    • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and procedures

    • Ability to communicate verbally and in written format
    • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills including that needed to accurately and orderly file documents
    • Good analytical and interpersonal relationship skills
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality restrictions, also quality and safety standards
    • Ability to follow instructions
    • Ability to work under pressure and within deadlines
    • Ability and willingness to work with the attitude of helpfulness, including within a team environment
    • Ability to work with limited on-site supervision, self-motivated
    • Ability to create and edit simple documents for inter-office communications, including completion of forms




    Physical Demands

    Work Environment

    Majority of the duties are to be performed in an administrative office environment.  Travel and field visits may also be required on an as needed basis.
