  • Overview

    Develops and organizes new and existing information systems and telecommunications courses in accordance with the Instructional Systems Development principles. The Training Specialist provides instructor-led classroom training sessions for COTS and GOTS, and custom applications, including APHC and Microsoft Office products, Microsoft Operating Systems, systems, and other applications as necessary.  

    Responsibilities

    • Responsible for the educational soundness and technical accuracy of all course materials, evaluations and critiques.
    • Conducts technical training and development classes and assists in developing criteria to measure the effectiveness of these classes.
    • Serve as the Center’s software and business process expert, responsible for gaining expertise on software and business processes within accelerated government approved timelines.
    • Provide instructor-led classroom training sessions for COTS and GOTS, and custom applications, including APHC and Microsoft Office products, Microsoft Operating Systems, systems, and other applications as necessary.  
    • Facilitate special and one-time training for clients and senior management staff and will provide one-on-one support to executive management as needed.
    • Serve as single POC for all classroom activities, devices, and services.  This includes, but is not limited to, software maintenance, hardware lifecycle management, software installation and removal for special training sessions, and projector maintenance.
    • Recommend and execute changes to the site to improve user experience and accessibility as required or upon request by the Government.
    • Responsible for updating and maintaining the IMD “Frequently Asked Questions” intranet SharePoint Site on a weekly basis, or sooner as required by the Government.
    • Be responsible for additional SharePoint support, on an ad-hoc basis, to include content management, page development and/or workflow design, testing, and implementation as required by the Government. 
    • Serve as the administrator/POC for the classroom for all training, to include non-IMD training sessions by APHC functional personnel.
    • Provide training materials for software and business processes within 2 weeks of receipt of the requirement. In special cases, interim materials may be required in shorter time frames as prioritized by the TM in conjunction with the CIO office.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Security clearance required up to top secret.
    • It is preferred to have 5 years of directly related training experience with an emphasis and understanding of information systems or telecommunications is required.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
    • Bachelor’s degree in related business field is preferred.
    • System specifics certification and/or 5 to 7 years of directly related training experience; MCT preferred.

    Special Skills:

    • Training skills to personnel capable of building detailed user documentation for use in classroom-based training and independent user training, including clear step-by-step walkthrough of complex issues relating to the application in question as well as compute-based training (CBT).
    • Advertising abilities on the APHC internal SharePoint site for instructor-led classroom training sessions for COTS and GOTS, and custom applications, including APHC and Microsoft Office products, Microsoft Operating systems, systems, and other applications on schedules defined by the government.
    • Ability to provide feedback to the government on attendance, user feedback, and effectiveness of the training upon request or monthly at a minimum.
    • Expertise with serving as the Center’s software and business process expert, responsible for gaining expertise on software and business processes within accelerated government approved timelines.
    • Educating skills with APHC senior leadership regarding software capabilities and process improvement opportunities upon request.
    • Coordination skills for government personnel and other members of the contract team, provide training personnel capable of building detailed user documentation for use in classroom-based training and independent user training, including clear step-by-step walkthrough of complex issues relating to the application or business process in question as well as computer-based training (CBT).
    • Ability to organize training materials published on the APHC intranet IT Training SharePoint site by content and interest areas.
    • Experience with maintaining/updating daily at a minimum to ensure accuracy and relevance. 
    • Knowledgeable with classroom devices for software testing and validation and is responsible for generating and implementing checklists for software functionality and validation. Results will be documented on the APHC Change Management SharePoint site.

    Physical Demands

    Position consists of sitting for long periods of time, using hands/fingers, handling, reaching with hands and arms, speaking or translating.  Periods of walking, standing, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, and lifting equipment weighing up to 30 pounds.  Moderate to extended periods of office work with heavy periods of computer usage. May be assigned occasional to moderate periods of analytical tasks requiring extensive reasoning abilities.     Work Environment

    Work is performed primarily indoors at a well-lit office or server room environment. The environment is normally air conditioned, but conditions may change dependent upon circumstances.  Work may need to be performed in a fast-paced environment requiring quick thinking and rapid judgements.  Employee will be exposed to a wide variety of clients in differing functions, personalities and abilities.

    Work Schedule

    Full time with occasional travel between IT support facilities. Training Specialist II shall be available and required to work additional hours as deemed necessary for adequate deliverable care of services.
